We are pleased to announce the placement of 12 Youth Exchange Students in our District this year. Hosting these students from France, India, Spain, Thailand, Romainia, Ecuador, Brazil, Taiwan, Chile, Belgium & Germany respectively, are the following clubs: Westhampton (3), Riverhead (2), & one each by Smithtown, Amityville, Bayshore, East Hampton, Babylon, Hampton Bays, & Greenport. Thank you to those clubs hosting this year! We would like to see more clubs involved with the Youth Exchange Program.  CONTINUED...

As of last year, the club commitment would be the student’s allowance. The district pays for all other expenses, unless specified otherwise. This is a great opportunity to be involved with the Youth Exchange program, and the young leaders of tomorrow, as well as filling the new avenue of service put in place by RI last year: NEW GENERATIONS. Join the rest of us in a refreshing, entertaining, and inspiring adventure by having your club host an Exchange student-it truly does help broaden your horizons, cut through cultural barriers, breaks down misconceptions, and inspires one to travel. Clubs will be forwarded Inbound bios, so you are all aware of the students interests and strengths, & perhaps you can reach out to include them in your family activities, especially if/when you have xtra tickets to any functions…Let’s make them feel welcome… Any Club interested in hosting and/or having us speak at your club to answer the YE questions that nag you, please contact Tom Kerr, Linda Kerr or Pam Einstman.

The Youth Exchange Cookbook is for sale! This is a fundraiser for the YE program. It is a collection of recipes from the Youth Exchange students hosted by our district for the past three years. It is divided by geographical region & then into appetizers, entrees, desserts, etc. This cookbook evolved from our annual Youth Exchange Potluck Dinner, where students are required to bring a dish from their country, including the recipe, to share. There will be annual addendums @ $10. The cookbooks sell for $20 and are available in seven colors, & ALL proceeds go to the YE program. Please support the YE program by purchasing a cookbook and/or placing an advertisement for your business. We are currently in 3 stores, 2 businesses & International in 4 countries! If you are interested in placing them at your business for sale or know of anyone else that may also commodate us, e-mail Pam Einstman with your interests: einstman@optonline.net.
