By now, everyone has heard about the devastation in Haiti.  There are areas that have been cut off from access, others where all of the crops and livestock have been destroyed.  At the District Conference, we all heard that there are countless communities where there is quite literally, not a goat left standing.

We have two projects currently available to our district, which need immediate funding:

Project 1:

One on the Island of LaGonave where we have been working since 2005, where the Island took a direct hit from the hurricane. They lost all their crops, livestock and a cholera outbreak is under way.  24 cases so far.

Project 2:

The other project is being run by the Port au Prince Rotary. They are concentrating on the Southern coast of Haiti which has been cut off from the rest of the Island. All roads leading to Port au Prince are not passable. The PaP Rotary is looking to replace the roofs of 1000 homes (About $200 each) and 1000 Sawyer Personal Water systems (About $100 each).

It is the District's intention to split the money raised between both the programs. Or if you wish to restrict your contribution to either of the two will work as well. Let us know.

You can send your checks made out to: D7255 Foundation (Memo: Earmarked for Haiti)  and send them to PDF George Solomon to make sure they get deposited and distributed as requested.    Thank you for your concern and generosity.
