It has been several days since we adjourned the District Conference at beautiful Water’s Edge and Spa in Westbrook, Connecticut, and I am still in awe of the favorable comments that were made by the participants via emails and telephones about the location and the informative plenary sessions. We could not have asked for a better year-end conference and celebration for all the Rotarians and guests that registered and attended. .

The plenary sessions were well-orchestrated, and if you were in attendance, you got a very good snapshot of all of the things that we do in our district. As the District Governor, I was prepared in my final speech to go over the things we do in our district; however, it was not needed. We had a Past Rotary International Vice President with us for the weekend, and his comment on our conference was that it was “outstanding.” The Rotary International President’s Representative, who delivered a stunning keynote address at the Governor’s Ball, was amazed at the amount of work that is done by the two districts. He stated on several occasions, along with other accolades, that this was the “one of the best district conference he has ever attended.”

I personally was not surprised by all of the good wishes of Michael Johns, because we had assembled a tremendous conference committee, and we were kept on track by the Conference Chair, who made sure that everything moved in the direction of a great conference.

To the conference staff, I want to express my sincere thanks to you for all the hard work and dedication you displayed to make this a successful conference. I feel extremely blessed to have been surrounded by dedicated Rotarians who worked long hours and gave of their time freely.

Yours In Rotary,
Irving H. Toliver
District 7260 Governor, 2011-2012
Irving is “Proud to be a Rotarian”
