Oscar Pateña is an active and very involved member of the Queensborough West Rotary Club.
Oscar's kidneys began deteriorating some 5 years ago, and he has been going to dialysis 3 times a week ever since. Recently, he received the news that dialysis is no longer sustainable and is in urgent need of a kidney. He is on the donation list with Northwell Health but time is of the essence!

A Message from Oscar's Wife

This is my husband, Oscar “Jun” Villafranca Patena, and our family. These are just two beautiful moments we have shared over the years and we look forward to having many more.

Today I’m reaching out to my Facebook family and beyond to let you know my husband needs a kidney. His blood type is B. No one would have ever known he was going through this because he is a very active and jolly person. He began dialysis treatments over three years ago and his schedule is three times a week for 4 hours a day. The pandemic came and he was forced to stop working because of his condition. My husband’s nurse case manager has emphasized several times that he cannot continue to be on dialysis this long and that it is imperative for him to have a kidney transplant. In short, he needs a kidney to resume his life.

Please share this post on your page to spread the word and help my husband get a donor.

A Message from Oscar's Rotary Club Queensborough West

Oscar Pateña is an active and very involved member of our club. He has held the role of Sgt at Arms, and a major force in all of the golf fundraising efforts of our club. Oscar is one of the best cheerleaders of the club. With his condition, opportunities for employment were limited and so he set up a catering business, and supplemented this with DJ-ing and dance instructor gigs.
Oscar's kidneys began deteriorating some 5 yrs ago, and he had his first emergency dialysis in October 2019. Since then he has been going to dialysis 3 times a week. Northwell Health has had him in the list for a few yrs now. Recently, he was told that dialysis is no longer sustainable and so we are assisting him connect with more possible and willing donors as time is crucial.

Oscar's date of birth is April 3rd, 1973. He just turned 50. His blood type is B and they told us that he could only get matched with Type B or AB donors.

We hope help is out there. We hope Rotarians of 7255 can ripple this off to more good folk!
