Dear Club Presidents and Fellow Rotarians:
This article and video will give you a better idea as to the problems and condition that exist on LaGonave , Haiti . This is where we built the well and Medical Clinic. The Hospital in the video is where we just delivered the new surgical suite. But in the video they call it a clinic. That just gives you an idea of how far behind they are in everything including health care. I hope this spurs you to raise some money to help our friends survive. I know that the thought of a Shelter Box is great and easy and is of need in Port au Prince. But our friends on LaGonave are in need of food and water and that is something we can not ignore. The need is great in Haiti both in Port au Prince and many other parts of the country including LaGonave. What ever your choice is please give and be generous. Let the District now what you are doing we are willing to help you achieve your goals.

Times Review
This is a link to an article in the Suffolk Times, a paper on the North Fork it describes the Two Riverhead Rotarians and the Team of surgeons from International Surgical Missions that the district sent to India last year and Zambia two years ago through a Matching Grant from the Foundation. Dr. Rajesh "Raj" Patel left with his group Saturday for Port au Prince and as of yesterday they had already performed over 50 surgeries on adults and child. Raj said the conditions are very bad and the need for medical supplies are big.

PDG Dr. Jordi Gasso the Gift of Life representative for the Dominican Republic is in charge of receiving funds and medical supplies for Haiti through the DR. Our District has been working with Jordi on several Matching Grants. He is a trusted partner and a great Rotarian. His email is dismed2@codetel.net.do and he would love to work with your clubs to help his Haitian neighbors.

Service Above Self is our Motto and these are the times that set us aside from others. Are you a member of Rotary or are you truely a "Rotarian" let's roll up our sleeves and help our friends in need! Thank you again for your on going support.

Yours in Rotary Service,
PDG George
