Lydia Wells

 
 
Background:
Born in Greenport, New York, Lydia married Richard Wells, also a dedicated Rotarian, in 1973, raising two children, Joseph (deceased 1/22) and Jennifer, who is now a dedicated Registered Nurse. Lydia is also a proud grandparent to Ian and Kaiya, along with step-grandchildren Naya and Devon.
 
Education:
Lydia holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from SUNY at Fredonia and a Master's degree in Guidance and Counseling from Troy State's overseas campus, supplemented by 45 additional graduate credits.
 
Professional Journey:
A career dedicated to education led Lydia to roles such as an Elementary Teacher in various locations, including Germany, and service as a Guidance Counselor and CSE/CPSE Chairperson in the Greenport School District. Retirement in 2014 allowed Lydia to transition into roles as a Consultant to the Greenport Union Free School District and as a home tutor and substitute teacher from 2016 onward.
 
Rotary Involvement:
An active member of the Greenport Rotary Club since 1999, Lydia has served as Club President three times (2002-2004, 2021-2022) and contributed in various roles, such as Club Secretary, Club Membership Chair, and Club Public Image Chair. Additionally, Lydia has held key district positions, including District Interact Chair (2006-2012) and District RYLA Chair (2018-2023), demonstrating a deep commitment to Rotary's mission as a member of the Paul Harris Society.
 
Hobbies:
In leisure moments, Lydia enjoys travel, reading, and quality time spent with family and friends.
